Phil Washburn has made the mountains of Boone his home since age 8 when his family relocated to North Carolina in 1982. Phil was raised in the Cove Creek community and graduated from Watauga High School in 1992.
Upon graduation, Phil immediately began working in the Construction Industry for a local commercial contractor. After gaining years of field experience, Phil decided to make the move to residential construction in 1995 where he joined leading local builder Albert Olszewski. Embracing this new sector allowed Phil to learn all aspects of residential construction and he honed his craft from a carpenter's helper to lead carpenter and foreman until 2006 at which point he created Washburn Custom Builders. Phil is a NC licensed general contractor and has achieved his Certified Green Professional designation from the National Association of Home Builders.
Phil enjoys life in the mountains with his wife Dusty and two children, Selah and Lex. In his free time he enjoys backpacking along the nearby Appalachian Trail and picking tunes on his Vintage Martin D28.
